HOOSIER "BEAUTY"
The Hoosier "Beauty" was probably the most popular Hoosier cabinet made. It appeared on the catalog page of The Ladies Home Journal for November, 1917. There were three variations of the "Beauty", first being the color or material used either unfinished oak or white enameled. Second was the choice of doors, you had a choice of roll or hinge doors. Third was the number of cutlery drawers. The cabinet overall size is 71" tall (w/wheels) and 41" wide, it comes apart at the porcelain counter top. The top is 40" tall with a SHAKER FLOUR SIFTER, with a glass window insert (glass missing). Originally there were slat doors that pulled shut under the sifter, they are not included. The top double doors open revealing two shelves, inside left door has a wire hanging holder, inside right door has wire cookbook holder and a rack for foil rolls, etc. There is a wire spice rack that attaches under the double doors, it is metal (shown above) and needs to be refinished. The spice bottles did not come with the cabinet they are clear glass with ribs and have a lip around the center for hanging in the rack. You can buy the spice bottles separately in the glass section of Aunt Deb's Attic. These cabinets came with a 10-peice glass canister set when new, there are a few of these pieces for sale located in the glass section of the Aunt Deb's Attic. The latch shown above is on all three doors, it is brass with the 'H' symbol which marks it a HOOSIER cabinet. All three latches and all five drawer knobs are included. The two drawers side by side in the middle are cutlery drawers, and totally wood. The left middle drawer has a divider for sharp knives, the right middle drawer is divided in half. The three stacked drawers on left side are TRIPLE-PLATED METAL. The second one has a metal sliding lid with air holes (BREAD DRAWER). The big door on bottom right has a utensil rack on inside and when opened reveals a shelve with a pull out DOUGH BOARD, the bottom also has a wooden sliding basket. The base sits flat to the floor but canister wheels could be installed, the original wheels are not included. $750.00
